An Interview with Pippa from Clashing Time!

Yes, Another blogging interview!! With one of my favourite bloggers which is Pippa from Clashing Time you should really check out her blog, it's amazing!
Pippa, Clashing time, blog
1. Why did you start your blog?
I heard about it from my friend Alice, who has a day life blog of her favourite things etc.. on http://lovebeau.blogspot.com/

2. When did you first become interested in fashion?
I really wasn't interested in fashion until about 2 years ago when I started working at Topshop and I only really started work there because I needed the money and they were hiring. When I was there I saw all the trends and how quickly they all change and also how easy they were to follow, so I started to take an interest. My fashion sense beforehand was very like everyone else; I didn't want to stand out, I wanted to have the typical side parted hair, jeans and plain t-shirt as my signature look.

3. How would you describe your style?
My style is very curve conscious, I know everyone says they should love their curves, but I sometimes find it hard when I am unable to wear the latest thing, for example a ‘bodycon dress’ due to what I see as an unattractive curve! I know, I know, some people may be screaming whilst reading this, but instead of ‘showing off’ my curves, I’d rather wear something I feel comfortable in. Therefore allowing myself to show off the shape I want people to see!

4. How long have you had your blog?
I’m quite a new blogger, I’ve had mine since 24th of September 2009. Although I have not been very good with it since joining university, I still love the opportunities I get when I do blog!

5. What is the most expensive fashion item you've bought?
I actually don’t know, maybe £65 pair of shoes. The thing is I’ve had expensive bags or other items bought for me for birthday presents or congratulations gifts, but never actually had it in me to buy something amazingly expensive. The thing about me is that I am so funny about spending money, that I have to justify it to myself for atleast half an hour after purchase to convince myself not to take it back due to ‘unnecessary buying’, as I would put it. Hence why I LOVE Ebay so much :)

6. What type of clothing do you buy most?
Tops, a lot of tops. I buy all kinds of tops, crops, bodysuits, and t-shirts but mainly tops pulled in at the waist, it’s the most flattering shape for me and quite often the best tops I have bought have been like that.

7. What is your favourite shop?
Of course, Topshop. Although, not all the time. Sometimes I find some of their looks a bit odd so I prefer their more plain items for me.

8. What's your aim from blogging?
Simple to share my buys, advice I find from other people and also just talk about what I’m thinking or liking. Everyone seems so appreciative of each other and its better than how some people are when you speak to them about fashion etc.

9. Who is your fashion inspiration?
I love Fearne Cotton, I have done a post about it her style before. Its not that I want to look like her, but instead I love how she is willing to always try something new; and I’d like to be this way.

10. Which are your favourite fashion blogs?
Apart from you of course, I would have to say Hannah from London--Rose, Giselle from Style of a fashionista, Kavita from I heart Vintage and finally Carrie from wish wish wish. Although I do LOVE a lot of other blogs, these are the ones I often find my own personal inspiration from.

11: Will you still be writing your blog in 4 years time?
I’d really like to think so, maybe I would be writing about a different topic though, maybe life after university, having a business degree and how I’m going to use that to my advantage :)

January Jones in Interview

The Devil and Miss Jones.

Are we all gearing up for next month's start of season 3 of Mad Men? God knows we are. We've been watching and re-watching the DVDs of the first two seasons and we are salivating in anticipation. To whet your appetites, here's a little of our favorite repressed housewife.

In the latest issue of Interview magazine, you can read a (what else?) interview with January Jones conducted by none other than Jack Nicholson, of all people:

"We get the scripts two days before we’re going to shoot them. I don’t have time to think about it. I’ve never been trained as an actress, so it’s all instinct. I just let myself go into this kind of a free fall. Sometimes I feel scared, or out of my element—like everyone else knows what they’re doing but me. I don’t know . . . Maybe I function well with fear or I like to be faced with a challenge . . . I think I’m just a work in progress."

"I think men are still attracted to what they’ve always found attractive, which is a woman [both laugh] who is feminine, soft, real, and . . . womanly. In the time of Mad Men, women were very polite and soft-spoken, and they didn’t express a lot of opinions. Now, I think women have become a little more rigid or hard—and I don’t think it’s because of men. I think it’s because women have become more masculine or we’ve forced ourselves to become more masculine. What’s in fashion now is very thin and hard."

Read the whole thing. It's pretty interesting. Plus, eye candy:

Bodysuit: Marc Jacobs - Bra: Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci

Bodysuit: Marc Jacobs - Bra: Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci - Gloves: Jil Sander

We've said in the past that she doesn't look nearly as good when she's out of her '60s drag, but we have to say, she looks pretty amazing here.

And if you don't feel like shelling out the money on DVDs to refresh your memory, Season 2 of Mad Men is currently OnDemand in its entirety.
