LML: Runway Rundown Part 2

Strap yourselves in so you don't get whiplash, kittens. Ready? Go!

Louanna & Jim

They seem to be working well together, but come on:

Pull something else out of your trickbag for once.

Oh, look. It's shiny, it's gray, it's off the shoulder, and it's draped. Done and done. We promise not to do this too often, but if this was PR, Nina would have had their spleens for doing too much of the same.

The belt's nice, though.

Eric & Galina

Tacky and Tackier.

COLOR! AND VOLUME! AND SHINE!

And if none of that works...PEACOCK FEATHERS!

If they keep throwing everything they've got at the judges week after week, they're eventually going to run out of things to throw. The proportions are weird on this thing. That lower half is way more voluminous than it needs to be and that sash is way too big.

Vanessa & Tressa

We adore The Essas. It's like every week, they put their heads together and ask themselves "What's the craziest thing we can send down that runway?"

Answer? CHINCHILLA CULLOTES.

At least we think they're culottes. They weren't allowed to make dresses, and they weren't sent home, so we have to figure that this isn't actually a dress, even though it looks like one.

It's kind of cute, if a little plain. It goes without saying (but we'll say it anyway) that we do not support the idea of chinchilla culottes, even if there is a part of us that loves the insanity of the idea.

Thing is, they were supposed to be inspired by the animal and just wrapping some faux fur around Amanda's thighs isn't enough. So, while we applaud their boldness, we have to wag our fingers at them for not really doing what they were asked to do.

LML: Runway Rundown

Butt wait! There's more!
Marilyn & Coco

These two have one of the more irritating relationships on the show, though not the worst by a long shot (guess which team THAT is, bitter kittens!). They're two personalities that are absolutely not suited to each other.

And yet, as a team they have potential because they keep sending out fairly polished, stylish (if a bit over the top), and wearable looks.

It's a bit too much in the Halston/Studio 54 mode to look modern enough to us (although that ... thing on her head can't be helping much).

But we like the color; the proportions are elegant; and we like the little touches like the sash.

But there is no excuse for THAT. She looks like a slutty USO chorus girl.

Merle & Thai

On the other hand, these two seem to have a great relationship. They're definitely on the same page. She knows what she wants to do and he knows how to do it for her.

We can't say we love this because we can't say we love anything that looks like a high end track suit, but at least it has a few things going for it.

It has nice proportions and feels more modern than Marilyn and Coco's. It has a lot of nice touches. It seems like thought was put into every single element: the sleeves, the neckline, the cuffs. You could argue that it's a little over-designed, but we think it's all those elements that prevent it from being a track suit. Unfortunately, it has a decidedly pajamas-esque feel that doesn't help it.

Patrick & Roberto

Worst team ever? You betcha!

There was absolutely no excuse for this. Everyone else had finished looks walking that runway. Roberto never really demonstrated an inability to manage his time before. Quite the opposite; he always managed to work in the time to schedule operatic hissy fits of grand proportions. It makes us wonder if he didn't just deliberately take his own sweet time on this one.

But here's the thing: Patrick's got to shoulder some of the blame here. Yes, he's been sweet so far, but that's the problem. He needs to break out the bitchpants pronto. And we mean the leather, studded bitchpants.

Plus, even if you think he couldn't possibly get a saddle on Roberto, you have to at least admit this:

There is a DEFINITE taste issue at work here.

We're sorry. There's no defending this. In all seriousness, not even a hooker or a stripper would wear this, that's how awful it is. And let's face it, it's been a string of mostly awful with these two so far. There was a promise in the beginning of colorful over-the-top clothes but all we've gotten is colorful messes. We can't honestly say if the judges had good reason to keep this team in for one more week or if the producers just want to keep them in for drama. We don't know the players well enough to speculate. We know this: unless they do something damn impressive next week, they need to go home.

Launch My Line S1E3: Congrats & Goodbye

BAM!

Hey kids! It's Rancho Fabuloso TM Dan and Dean! In this special collector's edition boxed set, the globetrotting fashion pixies come complete with Rancho Fabuloso TM fashion ensembles and one animal companion for each, Lloyd the Llama and Zoe Zebra! Mix and match!

Lloyd the Llama and Zoe Zebra's Rancho Fabuloso TM fashion ensembles sold separately.

Kathy & Emil

Yeah. Those were the looks on our faces too.

"I like a little sage rolling when I'm creating because I feel like that's just when the ancestors come and spirits flowing through..."

"Your ancestors are drying out my contacts. You think maybe you could all catch up some other time?"

Kathy, no one likes to hear this, but your ancestors have questionable taste.

Aw, we're being harsh. It's not that bad. Wouldn't have been our pick for the win, but certainly salable and wearable with some style to it.

We're not supercrazy about the top.

And that belt. It pains us. The fabric choices were a great idea, but the way they utilized them - that faux primitive that's so hard to do well without looking cheesy - wouldn't have been our choice.

But the back is sexy and overall the look has nice proportions and a toned-down style. We're sure the halls of your ancestors are filled with cheering as they all catch up on their reality television viewing, Kathy.

Kevin & Akiko

Ugh. THIS one.

Not an awful person. Certainly we've seen far worse personalities rear their heads on reality television. Just absolutely the wrong personality for this type of show.

For one, his only concept of fashion design is what would look good on the floor next to the bed.

For another, he somehow got the idea that a fashion competition (normally a place for behind-the-back bitch-talking and vows-to-destroy in the Alexis Carrington mold) called for Survivor-esque smack-talking and fist-pumping. It got old super-quick and we predicted in the first episode that his elimination would come exactly when it did.

Props to Akiko for handling Kevin with professionalism and a sense of humor. She could have easily become offended or put off by his antics, but she dealt with them exactly the way they should be when the cameras are on you: dryly and with a roll of the eyes. It couldn't have been easy for her to remain drama-free, but she managed it.

Yikes.

I Dream of Jeannie: The Meth Years.

To be fair, the collar's got some interest.

But man, everything below that is a tragedy in clothing form.

He was actually very sweet in his post-elimination comments when he talked about his daughter. He just came into it with the wrong game plan is all.

Well. That, and the fact that he had no real fashion or design sense.
