Auf Wiedersehen!

Darlings, don't hate us!

Fabulous episode, no? We don't know who to congratulate more...

His surgeon...

Or her colorist? As always, we leave the judging to you.

But seriously, this was a fun and fabulous challenge that SHOULD have yielded fun and fabulous results.

Unfortunately, after a season full of "make a pretty dress" challenges, the designers couldn't break out of the box and make something over the top and Mackie-esque, so we got a bunch of bland black and white dresses instead. Honestly, that runway show pissed us off. Where was the color? Where was the sense of drama? Why are we looking at a bunch of ball gowns? You just know Chris March was screaming at his TV last night.

And poor Tim looks like he needs to get some sleep.

Anyway, auf wiedersehen, Princess Jasmine. While we can say it really blows that you were sent home, we can't deny that what also blew was your garment.

Model: Ebony Jointer

Seriously, poodles. We can all argue about who should have gone home in her stead but can anyone with a straight face argue that this was not a shitastic entry?

We agree with Nina (YAY!) that the top was kind of nice. Not very well executed, but nice.

Unfortunately, we also agreed with Heidi when she said the rest of it looked like a Halloween costume, which pains us a bit because she keeps making that same stupid statement week after week. "It looks like a Halloween costume" is the new "Mother of the bride."

We know a lot of you were pretty upset about this auf, and truth be told, so were we because we like Shirin and think she's pretty talented, but come on. This is just bad, bad, bad all around. There's nothing fabulous or eye-catching or theatrical about this look. It looks like a slightly shredded ball gown and that's it. Where's the glitz and the glamour?

Cause honeys, that ain't glitz or glamour; that's just sad-looking.

It's a shame, because she's been doing some really good work on fairly consistent basis, but that's Project Runway. You can bang out great stuff week after week but if you get the lowest score, you're Audi. We know a lot of you don't agree with the auf and think that either Logan or Christopher should have gone home and we can't say we blame you for that, but we can't really defend this look either. Them's the breaks.

We will say this: there was a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth in T LOunge last night, along with a lot of comments to the effect that this is the "WORST SEASON EVER!!!!!" but all we could think upon reading them was that the show must be doing something right to garner that kind of emotional response. Do we one hundred percent agree with the outcome? No, not one hundred percent. Do we think it was uncalled-for? No, not really. We wish we could come up with a definitive response here but we can't. Good designer made a shitty dress. Good designer goes home. That's the way of Project Runway and it's been like that since season one. Austin Scarlett, people? Nick Verreos? Kara Janx? Kayne? Chris March?

Team Girlie

*gigglehairflip*

Upon reflection (because that is what we do Chez T Lo, we reflect on Project Runway) we think Team Girlie should have won this challenge.

Don't get us wrong, we liked Irina and Gordana's work, but the pieces from this collection, bland though they may be, had a little bit more style to them.

Model: Vanessa Fitzgerald

We don't LOVELOVE anything here, but that's because of the lameness of the challenge, which may as well have been, "Be bland! And blue!"

Still, we like the work on the neckline of that top.

And we like the sexy, slightly romantic back of it.

The only part we could really do without was that sash.

Just a little too big for us. We're resigned to the tights. We don't love them but they are in style.

Model: Ebony Jointer

This was actually a very cute, very stylish look.

It's got a little bit of a Joan Holloway vibe, especially with the scarf.

And again, we loved the back. They really went for the walking away effect on these two pieces.

Our only real problem with it is in the choice of fabrics. This could have really looked high end if they'd chosen better.

They weren't just more stylish than Irina's looks, they were also more salable, because CH wisely decided to go all separates, which is very department store-friendly.

The Bitter End

Let's finish this, bitches.
Althea:

Model: Tanisha Harper

It's not a bad look. It's sexy with a side of slutty, but nicely tailored and a little expensive-looking.

And we do like the skirt, especially from the back.

...

Oh, sorry. Fell asleep there for a second.

What else is there to say? It evoked a film noir aesthetic without being too literal, but it wasn't exactly an exciting look. Middle of the pack.

Shirin:

This was a pretty decent entry, all things considered.

Model: Ebony Jointer

We're not exactly experts on 19th century dancehall girl costumes, but this appears to be pretty much dead on, which is impressive considering she had no reference materials. We like the colors she used.

And the almost invisible details, like the lacing and the little bows. The only thing that irritates us slightly is the asymmetrical lace around the top.

All in all, another decent middle-of-the-pack entry.

Irina:

"From the last challenge and coming into this one, it reminded me of how good I am at doing these wow pieces."

Oh, girl. Thank god for you and Nicolas or we wouldn't have any smack-talking this year. Nothing more boring than a polite contestant. And nothing better than a smack-talker...

Model: Kalyn Hemphill

...who winds up with ass on the runway. This was one weird look. It's like Alexis Carrington's lingerie with a dryer sheet on top.

We don't mind the lace cutouts so much, except they're sending a message and that message says "Insert penis here."

That's not true; we do kind of mind the cutouts because they're so cheap-looking.

And worse, the whole thing is pretty badly executed, what with all the puckering. Still, take away the dryer sheet and pretend that it's well executed and it's not a bad design. It's just barely a middle-of-the pack entry, though. It's like one point above a bottom three.

Girls in the Middle

Hey, we forgot to do a Project Runway post!

We don't know, kittens.

We're just not feeling this one from Dr. Whitfield. It's all just a bit too much.

That bust is kind of weird and flappy looking.

And the rest of it's just a long bloody mess.

"Bloody" being the operative word here because that's the exact shade of red she chose for this thing.

The streaky red and the wrinkled mess on the bottom combined to make a dress that looked like a wound dressing.

Uh-oh, poodles! The editors got bored so they decided to take it out on Princess Jasmine!

A couple sound bites here...

A couple edited -in reaction shots there, and presto. You've got a storyline and a character. Shirin is loud and annoying.

Model: Ebony Jointer

Shirin's dress was a little loud and annoying too.

It's well made and it's cute. Probably a little too cute.

She seems to have decided to go over the top and costumey with the challenge and that's fine. That's one way to do it.

But the judges are usually more impressed when you can take the unconventional material and make something that looks like real clothes.

This is a fine entry, but we could have told her ahead of time that the judges were going to ignore it.
