Yea or Nay: Cracked-Out Sweaters

Although to be honest, we're not sure they can be called sweaters at all. More like ambitious scarves.

These are from Korean designer Wooyoungmi's fall 2009 collection. Lorenzo loves them. Tom's not so sure he'd want to be standing next to him in public should he ever decide to wear one.

Okay, that's not true. We're both in agreement that from a design perspective; a purely aesthetic point of view, these are all certainly eye-catching and interesting. Because really, that's the only way you can look at these. You certainly can't bring functionality into the discussion.

We don't know who would wear something like this but one thing's for sure: they won't be waving their hands in the air like they just don't care.

Yea or Nay: Bra Exposure

Chin up, tits out, ladies!

Before we say anything else, we have to say that the skirt Sevigny's wearing is absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately, Saldana's skirt was designed to look good long enough to make it down a runway and back. In real life, it looks like she slept in it.

As for boobapalooza...we can't yawn hard enough. Maybe if we were the type of guys who got excited over boobs we'd have a stronger opinion, but this look has been tried countless times since Madonna first unveiled hers a quarter century ago and it never really caught on past the short-lived trend stage. To be honest, we think it looks a little silly. The equivalent of a woman coming out of the ladies room with her skirt accidentally stuffed into her panty hose.

We're more concerned about the fact that they both replicated the runway looks so slavishly. Think for yourselves, ladies. Or more accurately, let your stylists promote an image that makes it look like you think for yourselves.

For what it's worth, here's the rest of the titastic Miu Miu fall '09 collection. We think the clothes are gorgeous, but we're bored by the boobs. Then again, we always were.

Yea or Nay: Thigh-high Boots

Let's pretend we set the trends, ladies.

If you were a high fashion muckety-muck, would you YAY thigh-highs or NAY them? Personally, you can put us in the YAY column. They've been coming back in one form or another for 40 years and they never stay around for longer than a season or two before everyone realizes how expensive and impractical they are. But for a little while every couple of years, the models all walk the runway looking like superheroes or hookers (or superhero hookers) and we love it.

Take a booted stroll through the following looks and tell us which ones are YAYs and which ones are NAYs. There's no point in us doing it, because it gets a little boring reading one YAY after another.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada Fall 2009

Darlings, let's start the week off with some whimsy, shall we?

And "whimsy" (along with "eye candy") is the best possible description for Agatha Ruiz de la Prada's surrealist-inspired Fall 2009 collection, presented in Milan.

Agatha de la Ruiz Prada has received several awards in Spain including the Arts Gold Medal Award by the Ministry of Culture for bringing Spanish fashion and culture to other countries. She's known for her brightly colored designs with her signature childlike motifs of moons, stars, suns, and hearts. She also designs furniture, houseware, and clothes for men and children. She has stores in several cities in Spain, Milan, Paris and New York.

Is this stuff particularly wearable? No, but it's fun and let's face it, sometimes the fashion industry really has a stick up its ass, so kudos to her for being so joyous about it.
